§ 26-16. Tampering with or corrupting jurors, witnesses, referees, etc.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person, by the gift or offer of money or any other thing of value or by threats, intimidation, persuasion or the exercise of undue influence, to induce or attempt to induce any person summoned as a juror or as a witness in the municipal court to fail to attend such court in obedience of such summons, to testify anything but the truth in any cause in such court, to suppress any true testimony therein or to render or to consent to any untrue verdict in such court.

    (b)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to corrupt or attempt to corrupt any juror, arbitrator, umpire or referee by giving, offering or promising any gift or gratuity whatever with intent to bias the opinion or influence the decision of such juror, arbitrator, umpire or referee by giving, offering or promising any gift or gratuity whatever with intent to bias the opinion or influence the decision of such juror, arbitrator, umpire or referee in relation to any cause or matter pending in the municipal court, or for the decision of which such arbitrator, umpire or referee has been chosen or appointed.
